Community Involvement


Waytek has a long history of community involvement in three main areas: Supporting our community, providing students with part-time work as well as full-time job opportunities after graduation, and connecting with local businesses.

 

Community and Charity Support

Waytek supports organizations that help people in need in the southwest Minneapolis metropolitan area including Chanhassen, Chaska, Victoria, Carver, Minnetonka, and Excelsior. We are a sponsor of the Rotary’s summer Excelsior Concerts in the Commons series, which raised more than $200,000 in 2023. Half of the proceeds were dedicated to rebuilding the commons area in Excelsior and the rest to supporting local charities including:

We also donate to LOVE Inc of Carver County, which coordinates between churches and service organizations to serve disadvantaged families in the southwest Minneapolis metropolitan area and are a sponsor of the annual Love Inc golf tournament.

 

Support of Schools and Students

Waytek regularly recruits students from Chanhassen and Minnetonka High Schools to work in our warehouse. In addition, we offer educational support by participating in Minnetonka High School’s Momentum program for skilled trades. During the 2022-23 school year, 40 students from the Momentum program visited Waytek to learn about life in the electric components distribution industry.


Business and Community Relations

Waytek is a member of the Southwest Metro Chamber of Commerce and we support their Winter gala, annual fundraising golf tournament, and other activities. We are a member of the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce and a sponsor of their annual fundraising golf tournament. We are also a sponsor of the Chanhassen Lions Club golf fundraiser. A portion of the tournament proceeds go to support worthy causes such as the Lions Gift of Sight, MN Lions Childhood Cancer Foundation, Bountiful Basket Food Shelf, and Can Do Canines.

We are also a member of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, and we donate to the City of Chanhassen in support of their community events.

 

Print Materials Reduction and Reforestation Support

We encourage our customers to reduce the use of printed materials from Waytek via our annual Go Green campaigns. In support of the thousands of customers who have signed up for digital catalogs and invoices, we have funded the planting of more than 40,000 trees through Eden Reforestation Projects.

 

Toys for Tots

Each December, Waytek employees support children in need by participating in the Twin Cities Toys for Tots drive.
